To strengthen its presence in the US with direct production and supply, TREFFERT Coating GmbH established TREFFERT Coatings US, Inc in 2007 under the joint-venture with Premier Finishing & Coating LLC (in short PFC), a leading contract pre-finisher of hardwood flooring and wood products for the furniture and flooring industry.

Under the TREFFERT Nature™ special coating system series using Wood Grain Enhanced (WGE) coating technology, PFC has since launched ecoGRAIN which replicates “forest hardwood” by using sustainable plantation timbers and lower cost exotic species.

The wood grain enhancement is achieved by a “controlled stain application”. Staining is a normal wood finishing process to enhance or change the wood colour and grain appearance. Three standard Treff^®Guard flooring finishing systems can be applied (Alox System, Elastic System, Hard System).


At the Surfaces Show 2011 in Las Vegas, USA, PFC introduced TREFFERT Sapphire™. THE best performing scratch-resistant UV curable coating system for prefinished flooring in today’s market.

Recognizing the increasing demand for scratch resistance in flooring, TREFFERT Sapphire™ special coating system is specially formulated with the most advanced UV-curable resins and anti-abrasion materials. This innovation is far superior to conventional coating system range in terms of gloss retention and scratch resistance, thus providing greater substrate protection and maintaining aesthetics for a number of years to its end-users.
